Fernando Tames was born in Tijuana, Mexico in 1948. He started painting in 1969 completely self-taught and by 1971, he was working with important masters in Mexico City. For more than twenty years Tames has lived and maintained studios in Mexico City, Cozumel, and Los Cabos. He has participated in numerous collective and solo exhibitions across Mexico, as well as abroad in such places as Germany, Spain, Canada, and the United States. Tames’ strong abstract and figurative Expressionist work is well respected by his contemporaries and is collected worldwide.
